Engineering supports the building system

Engineering is integrated into every KLY building system, ensuring each building is configured, documented and delivered to project requirements.

Equipment changes, the site imposes its own actions, and the civils and electrical packages need information before they can start. Engineering is how those inputs become one buildable, documented building — included in the package, not bought separately.

What engineering delivers

Every building is engineered before it is manufactured, and the output is issued with it:

  • Design basis and load schedule agreed at the start
  • General arrangements and structural drawings
  • Frame design and connection details
  • Foundation reactions and setting-out for the civils contractor
  • Interface coordination with equipment, M&E and installation packages
  • Deliverables and design responsibility defined per project, before manufacture

Where you already have an appointed engineer or a client standard, KLY engineers the building to it. Deliverables and design responsibility are agreed for each project before manufacture begins, so your own engineers, consultants and approvals fit into a clear structure.

Standards

Design basis & standards

Buildings are designed to Eurocode actions for the site location, with the design basis agreed and recorded before manufacture:

  • EN 1990 — basis of structural design
  • EN 1991-1-1 — densities, self-weight and imposed loads
  • EN 1991-1-3 — snow loads
  • EN 1991-1-4 — wind actions
  • EN 1993 — design of steel structures
  • Project-specific loads: equipment, crane, seismic or client standards where applicable

Structural steelwork is manufactured under EN 1090, with the execution class set per project against the design requirement. Production is through qualified partners whose EN 1090 certification covers the work, and the evidence is compiled into the pack issued with the building.

Quality

Quality & compliance

Certifications available. Structural steelwork is manufactured under EN 1090, with the execution class set per project — up to EXC4 where the design requires it. CE / UKCA marking and declarations of performance are issued for the manufactured steelwork, and material is certified to EN 10204 3.1. Each certificate is issued by the party that performed the work and compiled into one pack that comes with the building.

Documentation process. Records are produced alongside manufacture, not assembled afterwards. The pack is defined at quotation and typically includes:

  • Declaration of Performance (DoP)
  • CE / UKCA marking documentation
  • Material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1)
  • Welding procedure and welder qualification records
  • Inspection and dimensional check reports
  • Galvanising or coating certificates
  • General arrangement and structural drawings
  • Packing lists and delivery documentation

Quality approach. Inspection points are agreed before production, checked during manufacture and recorded in the pack. Third-party inspection, QA photography or client-specific formats can be added to the scope where the project requires them.

KLY provides the complete building: specification, system configuration, engineering, documentation and delivery. Manufacture is through qualified production partners. Civil works, installation, MEP and commissioning are completed by your appointed contractors, working from KLY drawings and documentation.
